Yes, I know... it's unofficially announced but it sounds like it is already being worked on. My cousin just called me up and told me he read somewhere that Sony PS3 later this year will be getting an upgrade to a 1440p as well. And the new cable to support it is the new HDMI 1.3. News courtesy of EngadgetHD.com Anyhow, I'm even more comfortable with my 720p now more than ever! This is getting a little silly and over board.
